Death on the Nile
Since the movie is (hopefully) coming out soon, and because I liked Murder on the Orient Express so much, I thought I’d give Death on the Nile a try. Another Poirot mystery, this one satisfies the detective questioning a bunch of people in a specific area bug, just like Orient Express does, though I preferred that ending to this one.
These books are almost like a board game. Christie sets up the board, the players, and the goal. In this case, the board is the Karnak, a steamship on the Nile, the players are the people on the ship (duh), and the goal is to find the murderer. Of course, there are twists and turns and everything you would expect, so if you’re in the mood, play the game. Christie sets the stage well enough that you can probably figure things out but the ride is also a fun time too. Sure, there are some 1930s moods and feelings (to put it lightly) but if you can get past them, then the mystery is well worth your time. No spoilers obviously, but it’s on the same level as Orient Express.
PS, if you want an actual board game like this, check out Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective, or Watson and Holmes. Both good mystery solving games.
