A Course Called Ireland
A Course Called Ireland is one of the earlier books of Tom Coyne’s A Course Called… series. This time he earns the name as he plays many courses on the Emerald Isle, and walks to each one of them.
The conceit is interesting, though I think the amount of people who are interested in this kind of book are still just golf fans. The kind of book you give your uncle who likes to hit the links. Luckily for me, I’m that uncle, so I enjoyed what I read. Interesting course descriptions and adventures along the way. Fun asides about the towns or places he was staying in, and other things he did there, etc, etc. I don’t think you will get too much out of it if you don’t like golf though.
If you’re one of those people, I’ll lend you my copy so you don’t buy a book you’ll be bored to tears by, but if you end up liking it, great.
So, in all, good for me and other golf aficionados, not good for people who think it’s a boring slow sport where you walk and hit a ball.
